Commercial Gas Detection

Commercial and public facilities such as swimming pools, schools, and parking garages use integrated safety systems, which often includes gas detection. Common gas hazards in public spaces include, but are not limited to, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, chlorine, methane, and oxygen depletion. Other applications benefiting from commercial gas detection solutions include chillers, office tower, mechanical rooms, golf courses, schools and universities.

A completely self-contained gas detection system for commercial buildings could be created with a combination of commercial gas detectors, depending on the location and target gas. Monitors within the system easily integrate with multi-channel controllers, which reports back to the building’s fire alarm system. For example, large build ups of carbon dioxide in a parking garage have the potential to cause harm before triggering a relay to turn on an exhaust fan in the affected area, while a gas detector can indicate there are hazardous conditions before it affects public safety. Critical Environments offers a parking garage gas detector, the LPT-A, for enclosed parking facilities and vehicle repair shop applications.

Laboratories and medical facilities, like hospitals, may use many different flammable and toxic substances for a variety of processes and procedures. Very large installations may also possess their own on-site utility supplies and back-up power stations. Laboratories, cryogenics cabinets, refrigerated spaces, and boiler rooms all pose gas risks that can result in compromised community health. Ammonia, carbon monoxide, chlorine ethylene oxide, hydrogen, and methane are common gas mixtures utilized in these types of environments.

Indoor air quality monitors simultaneously detect the most commonly found gas mixtures at medical facilities. These advanced monitors can detect up to eight- or 15- different channels at one time. The portable electrochemical detector provides unmatched low-level detection for many different gases that the indoor air quality monitors are not able to identify at the lowest detectable limits.
